Galenicum was founded in Barcelona in 2003, when three young entrepreneurs launched the company with a clear mission: to improve the quality and affordability of pharmaceutical products worldwide. What began as a business focused on trading active pharmaceutical ingredients for generic medicine companies in Spain quickly expanded into a full pharmaceutical ecosystem, spanning research and development, regulatory affairs, manufacturing, and global supply. Today, Galenicum operates across more than fifty countries and works throughout the entire value chain, from APIs and intellectual property to finished dosage forms and commercialisation.

 

The group’s manufacturing backbone is GalenicumSAG, a production plant located in San Agustín del Guadalix near Madrid, Spain, with a manufacturing capacity of more than 50 million packs per year. The site produces a wide range of pharmaceutical forms, including tablets, coated tablets, capsules, semi-solids, granules, liquids, creams, and powders. GalenicumSAG is GMP certified in Europe and also holds ANVISA certification for Brazil and GILS certification for Russia, reflecting the company’s strong regulatory standards and international reach. As of late 2025, Galenicum Health was reported to have 687 employees, making the group a sizeable and steadily growing pharmaceutical organisation entering 2026.
