OCONA-Z (KETOCONAZOLE IP 2% w/w, ZINC PYRITHIONE 1% w/w) LOTION IN SHAMPOO BASE | 50ml/1.70 fl oz

Properties and indications:

Ocona-Z ® – is a lotion based shampoo which is intended for treating dandruff and other fungal skin infections.

It contains the 2 active ingredients:

1. ketoconazole – has a powerful anti-itching, anti-inflammatory and antifungal activity against dermatophytes such as Trichophyton, Epidermophyton, Microsporum and yeasts such as Candida and Malassezia furfur (previously known as the yeast fungus ovale Pityrosporum);
2. zinc pyrithione – agent for external application, which has anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial, antiseborrhoeic, antidandruff and anti-fungal properties.

Indications:

• dandruff of the scalp;
• irritation, itching, and dryness of the scalp;
• scaly skin disease;
• psoriasis of the scalp;
• seborrheic dermatitis of the scalp;
• atopic dermatitis of the scalp;
• fungal infections of the skin

Release form:

lotion for external use 50ml/1.70 fl oz

Composition:

• ketoconazole IP – 2.0 % w/w;
• zinc pyrithione (ZPTO) – 1.0 % w/w ;
• shampoo base – q.s.

Contraindications:

• hypersensitivity to any component of the lotion;
• children up to age 12 years.

Pregnancy and lactation

Ketoconazole is not absorbed through the skin when applied topically, so to use it during pregnancy and lactation is not contraindicated.

Side effects of the preparation

Normally, when using the lotion no occurs any side reactions.

Some people may rarely appear feeling of burning, itching, or contact dermatitis.

If after 2 weeks, these symptoms persist, you should discontinue use and consult a doctor.

Precautionary measures

Not recommended for use in conjunction with the topical preparations containing glucocorticoids.

Dosage and how to use:

For external use only, and after consultation with your healthcare specialist:

• shake the bottle to apply on wet hair, easily massaging within two minutes, before the advent of rich foam;
• then, after 10 minutes, rinse with water;
• for therapeutic effect, repeat again, and leave for 10 minutes;
• use at least twice a week.

Scaly skin disease: daily within a maximum of 5 days.

Seborrheic dermatitis and dandruff: Twice a week, for 2 - 4 weeks.

A second course should be agreed with your physician.

Shelf life:

18 months

Storage conditions:

• store in a dry, dark and cool place;
• protected from exposure to high temperatures;
• keep away from children;
• do not freeze.
